Vascular Plants & Non-Vascular Plants
My Trip to Vogel State Park
Can you find vascular and non-vascular plants? Are there things in these pictures that are neither non-vascular nor vascular?
July 10th through July 13th my family went on a camping trip to Vogel State Park, which is about two hours away from our school. While I was on the trip, I made sure to take pictures of some of the sights I saw around our campsite and while we were hiking.
What kinds on living things do you see in these pictures? What do you notice about the surroundings of each living thing? Are all of these pictures taken in the same location? What type of environment or conditions helped these living things grown or change over time? Science is everywhere you go. Be sure you are aware of "sciency" things happening around you! Take pictures! Jot down your observations! Share your findings with the class! Will you be "Super Scientist" and tell me your observations and thoughts? I'd love to hear what you think! |

My Trip to Big Canoe
Hiking and Gibbs Gardens
July 17th through July 19th, my family and I stayed with one of our church members at his vacation home in Big Canoe! We had a wonderful time and, as you may have figured out by now, my favorite parts were the outdoors parts of the trip! We went on a long hike to a waterfall and we went to an amazingly beautiful garden that just opened up called Gibbs Gardens.
Of course, I took the opportunity to take pictures of vascular and non-vascular plants! Can you classify the pictures into those two groups? What are the characteristics that you used to sort these pictures into two groups? Now, look around your yard and see if you can see any plants like the ones I found in the woods! As always, don't forget to take pictures and share them with the class. |
